The Tip Page Conversion Checklist: 9 Things That Change the Number

Getting the guest to your page is half the job. These nine details decide whether they finish — and most of them take ten minutes to fix.

A tip page open on a phone

A tip page has one job and about eight seconds to do it. The guest has already decided they want to tip — everything after that point is friction you either removed or did not.

1. Put a face on it

A page with a photo and a name converts better than a page with a logo, because the guest is tipping a person, not a brand. This is the single highest-leverage change on most pages.

2. Set the presets to your actual ticket

Preset amounts anchor the decision. A ladder that is too low leaves money on the table; one that is too high makes the guest feel judged and pushes them to the custom field, where a third of them abandon.

  • Café or counter service — AED 5 / 10 / 20
  • Casual restaurant — AED 20 / 30 / 50
  • Fine dining, salon or spa — AED 50 / 100 / 200
  • Valet or bell — AED 10 / 20 / 50

3. Lead with the wallet

Apple Pay and Google Pay convert far better than a card form, because they are one biometric confirmation instead of sixteen digits. If the wallet button is below the fold, it is not doing its job.

4. Keep the page fast

The guest is on hotel wi-fi or a roaming connection, standing up, about to leave. A page that takes four seconds to become interactive loses a meaningful share of the people who tapped.

5. Ask for nothing you do not need

Name and message should both be optional. Every required field is a reason to close the tab.

6. Confirm properly

Show the amount, the recipient and a thank-you in the recipient's own words. This is the moment the guest decides whether the whole thing felt legitimate.

7. Place the card where the guest is looking

Bill folder over table stand, badge over poster, and never behind the till. Placement changes tip volume more than any copy change will.

8. Tell staff what to say

One sentence, offered without pressure, at the handover. "If you'd like to leave something for the team, you can tap here." That is the whole script.

9. Measure per placement

Run separate pages or tagged links per placement, and reprint the ones that earn. Most venues discover one placement doing the majority of the volume and quietly drop the rest.
