TAP TO TIP

Tipping for restaurants that reaches the person who served the table

Service charge is not a tip, and staff know the difference. A tip page per server — or per section — puts the choice back in the guest's hands at the moment they are most inclined to make it.

Why teams choose Tap To Tip

The guest picks the person

A team page lists who is on shift. The guest taps a name, and the tip is attributed to them rather than disappearing into a service line.

Pooled when that's fairer

Back-of-house rarely meets the guest. A pooled page collects to the venue and splits on your own rules.

See what each shift earns

Tips per person, per page and per day, exportable — useful for scheduling as well as morale.

Nothing added to service time

The tap happens while the guest is already settling up. It does not add a step to the close of the table.

How it works

  1. 01

    Create a page per venue

Add your servers to it. Each one gets a name, a photo and a card.

  2. 02

    Place the cards

Bill folder first, table stand second. Both open the same page.

  3. 03

    Review weekly

Export the week's tips per person for payroll or for a pooled split.

Service charge versus tips

Many UAE venues add a service charge to the bill, and many guests assume it goes to the staff. In practice it is venue revenue, and the people who earned the goodwill often see none of it.

Running tipping separately makes the distinction visible. The guest can still choose to tip on top, and when they do, the money is attributed to a named person rather than to the P&L.

Where to put the card in a restaurant

Placement decides everything. The bill folder is the strongest position because the guest is already thinking about the total. A table stand works for longer meals where the server may not return. A badge works in fast-casual settings where the interaction happens at a counter.

  • Bill folder card — highest conversion, hand it over with the receipt
  • Table stand — good for long dwell times and shisha terraces
  • Server badge — right for counter service and food halls
  • Receipt QR — the zero-cost way to test before ordering cards

Multi-branch groups

A group account holds one page per branch, each with its own team and its own cards, all reporting into a single dashboard. Adding a branch is one page and one card order; it does not need a new account or a new Stripe onboarding for the group.
