Tipping for hotels across housekeeping, concierge and valet

Housekeeping is the role most affected by the disappearance of cash — the guest never meets them, and there is no moment to hand over a note. An in-room card fixes that without adding anything to the folio.

Why teams choose Tap To Tip

A page per department

Housekeeping, concierge, valet, spa and F&B each run their own page, their own team list and their own reporting.

In-room placement

A card on the desk or the pillow reaches the one team the guest never sees. It is the highest-impact placement in a hotel.

Nothing on the guest folio

Tips are paid by the guest's own wallet, so there is no charge to post, no dispute risk at checkout and no PMS integration to build.

Reporting your HR team can use

Export tips per department and per employee for payroll, recognition or a pooled distribution.

How it works

  1. 01

    Map the departments

One page each for housekeeping, concierge, valet and spa. Add the team to each.

  2. 02

    Place the collateral

In-room cards, desk stands at concierge, badges on valet uniforms.

  3. 03

    Distribute

Direct to the individual or pooled per department, exported on your payroll cycle.

The housekeeping problem

Housekeeping is invisible by design: the room is serviced while the guest is out. Even a guest who wants to leave something has to have physical cash on them at the right moment, and increasingly they do not.

An in-room card removes the timing problem entirely. The guest can tip at any point during the stay, from the room, with the phone already in their hand.

Front-of-house departments

Concierge, valet and spa all have a natural handover moment, which makes a badge or a desk stand the right form factor. The guest taps during the goodbye, exactly where a note would have changed hands.

  • Concierge — desk stand, tapped after a booking or a recommendation
  • Valet — badge on the uniform, tapped at the handover of the keys
  • Spa — card at the treatment room door or with the bill
  • Bell desk — badge, tapped after luggage is delivered

Pooled distribution and payroll

Most hotel groups run housekeeping tips as a pool and front-of-house as direct. Tap To Tip supports both on the same account: pooled pages settle to the property, direct pages settle to the individual's own verified account.
